Award Categories

The Purple Inclusion Awards 2027 recognise organisations of all sizes making a measurable impact in accessibility and inclusion for people with disability, with winners selected by independent judges based on outcomes achieved.

Entry Fees are £149 per category.

Entry is FREE to organisations that have a Purple Inclusion Premium or Premium Plus Membership.

Accessible Customer Experience Award

This award is open to organisations of any size or sector that deliver demonstrable end-to-end accessibility across physical, digital, service and support journeys. Qualifying outputs include accessible retail or branch environments, inclusive website and app design, accessible communications, trained frontline teams, inclusive policies, and measurable improvements in customer satisfaction, retention or feedback from disabled customers. It is designed for customer-focused organisations, particularly those with high public visibility who can evidence how accessibility is embedded across the entire customer lifecycle, not delivered as isolated initiatives.

Disability Inclusive Leadership Award

This category is open to organisations where disability inclusion is visibly owned and championed at board and executive level. Qualifying evidence includes executive sponsorship, published commitments, transparent reporting, governance structures, accountability measures, and demonstrable organisation-wide progress linked to leadership direction. It is particularly suited to large corporates, PLCs, public bodies and mission-driven organisations seeking to evidence that inclusion is strategically embedded, not simply operationally delivered.

Accessible Workplace Award

This award recognises employers who have built outstanding, structured approaches to workplace accessibility and reasonable adjustments. Evidence may include clear adjustment processes, assistive technology provision, flexible working frameworks, manager training, disability employee networks, and measurable improvements in retention, engagement or progression of disabled colleagues. It is open to private, public and third-sector employers who want to showcase best practice in inclusive employment and demonstrate compliance, risk management and a strong people strategy.

Digital Accessibility Excellence Award

This award celebrates organisations that demonstrate excellence in digital accessibility across websites, apps, platforms and digital documents. Entries should evidence compliance with recognised accessibility standards (such as WCAG), inclusive experience design processes, testing with disabled users, accessible content practices, and measurable improvements in usability or risk mitigation. It is open to organisations with significant digital presence or platforms, as well as digital teams and product owners who can demonstrate systematic and sustainable digital inclusion.

Disability Inclusive Recruitment Award

This award is open to organisations that have redesigned hiring practices to remove barriers for disabled and neurodivergent candidates. Qualifying outputs include accessible job adverts and application systems, alternative assessment methods, inclusive interview practices, targeted outreach or internship programmes, accessible onboarding, and data showing improved attraction, hiring or progression outcomes. It is aimed at employers facing skills shortages or ESG scrutiny who can evidence inclusive recruitment as a strategic talent initiative rather than a standalone campaign.

Accessible Building Award

This category recognises organisations responsible for the design, development or management of accessible physical environments. Eligible entries may include offices, retail sites, leisure venues, transport hubs, stadiums or public buildings that demonstrate inclusive design, compliance beyond minimum standards, co-production with disabled people, and positive user feedback. It is suited to property owners, developers, facilities managers and venue operators who can evidence tangible, visible accessibility improvements.

Disability Community Champion Award

This award is open to organisations that demonstrate meaningful and sustained engagement with disabled communities beyond core commercial activity. Qualifying outputs may include partnerships with disability organisations, volunteering, sponsorship, co-production initiatives, community programmes, or social impact reporting with measurable outcomes. It is designed for organisations that can show authentic commitment, reputational leadership and a clear, positive impact within the disability community.

Best Use of Technology for Inclusion Award

This award recognises organisations that harness technology to remove barriers and advance disability inclusion. Eligible entries may include AI solutions, assistive technologies, automation, inclusive design tools, accessibility analytics, or innovative platforms that deliver measurable improvements in access or experience. It is open to corporates, tech providers, start-ups or internal innovation teams that can evidence real-world impact, scalability and forward-thinking application of technology.

Disability Innovation Award

This category celebrates groundbreaking products, services, policies, practices or individuals that are driving meaningful change in disability inclusion. Qualifying outputs include new product development, pioneering policy reform, innovative service models, or start-up solutions that demonstrate originality, measurable benefit and potential for broader impact. It is open to organisations, entrepreneurs, innovators and change-makers who can evidence both creativity and tangible results.

Purple Inclusion Impact Award - Overall Excellence

This flagship award is open to the organisation that can demonstrate systemic, organisation-wide commitment to disability inclusion and outstanding measurable results over the past year. Evidence should span multiple areas; customer experience, workplace, leadership, community impact, innovation or digital accessibility, showing integration rather than isolated initiatives. It is suited to organisations that have embedded accessibility into their culture, strategy and operations and can clearly demonstrate transformative impact at scale.

All shortlisted entries will be invited to attend the Awards evening in February 2027 for a night of celebration.
